How we check the law
Every answer comes from the law's own text, and you can always see it.
- We read the official sourcesState codes, city ordinances and rent board notices: 91 documents for the main cities, each saved with the day we read it.
- Every figure is quoted word for wordCode checks that each quote is in its source: 62 of 62 rules match exactly. Show the law on any answer opens the quote and the link.
- Plain words, checked by codeEach rule gets a one-line answer. Numbers, dates and the status are checked against the rule before it is shown.
- We re-read the sourcesSources are fetched again on a schedule. A change goes to a review queue; nothing new goes live unreviewed. Figures like California's inflation index are refreshed from the publisher.
This is information about the law, not legal advice. For your situation, the offices named on each answer can help.
